Since then, Cashmore has been recognized as a leader in the technology field by media outlets and commentators around the world. In 2009, Inc. Magazine called him as one of “30 Under 30” and Forbes listed him as a “Top 25 Web Celeb”. That same year, The Huffington Post said he is a “Top 10 Game Changer”.
Cashmore used to write a weekly column on technology and social media for CNN, which gave him wide exposure. In 2012, Time Magazines listed him as of the world’s 100 most influential people. In 2017, Pete Cashmore sold Mashable to Ziff Davis for 50 million dollars.
In November of 2018, though, his social media profiles were changed to say, “Now: Taking some time off and working on something new.” He left Mashable shortly after, leaving us to wonder what his next project would be. Now, we can only speculate.
